Loved walking in the snow away up paths behind our borrowed house. Coyotes live there, it says on one of the many, many notices. Some notices say 'no carry', but don't tell you what not to carry, and some say 'no outlet', but I don't know what an outlet is in this context. As well as coyotes up here, there are very, very seriously rich people. Massive mansions surge up the mountain, many more under construction even in the snow. Most look very deserted. Can only be second homes because Hispanic people do all the work round here, and it isn't clear where they live. It isn't up this mountain. The town is crowded with people with logos who come up and ask if you want help and assure you that you're welcome. It's a bit startling. They are not Hispanic, and experience has shown that they are more friendly than knowledgeable, but then friendliness is a good thing. It is very hard to understand how all these people can afford to be here, let alone stay in all the luxurious apartments, eat at the lovely but expensive restaurants, buy maple syrup, as an example, from the supermarket we eventually found. But, they can. There are loads of people. There was a serious traffic jam on the pavement this afternoon just trying to get up the street. Mind you, some of the pedestrians are recovering skiers and haven't complete control of their limbs.
